Race for Oceans Technology

Making plastic pollution visible

We develop AI software solutions that detect, classify and map visible microplastics as small as 2 mm in complex land environments on a global scale. The software is built to integrate with existing drones and small collection robots.

92%

Of plastic pellets on a beach are detected by our first AI model.

2 mm

The smallest waste our models can identify, classify and map in complex land environments.

Inference per image, providing instant results on visible microplastic quantity and location.

Impact

Putting biodiversity first

Hand-picking simply cannot keep up with the amount of visible microplastic already in the environment. While mechanical sifting can be faster, it comes with the cost of destroying biodiversity.

That's why we focus on measuring the pollution before removing it. By knowing where the plastic is and how much is present, cleanup can be focused where it is most impactful.
